First Time?

We want your worship experience at Hillcrest Christian Church to be warm, welcoming, and fulfilling. We are hopeful you will discover that we are a congregation where “head and heart are partners in faith". The following frequently asked questions will give you an idea of what to expect when you visit Hillcrest:

What should I wear?
There is no dress code for our worship service. You will see a variety of dress from “Sunday best” to casual. Please wear what is comfortable for you. We will be blessed that you have come to worship God in whatever you are wearing.

What is your style of worship?
Our worship service is primarily traditional (organ, hymns, choir), but includes the use of a projection system, praise choruses, and occasional drama presentations.

How are visitors recognized?
As you enter the church building, you will be welcomed by our greeters, and given a nametag so that we can address you personally. During the fellowship time in our worship service, first-time worshippers are invited, but not required, to introduce themselves.

What role do children have in worship?
Children are an important part of our church family. All children are invited to the front of the sanctuary during the Children’s Moment to share in a brief message and contribute a quarter toward the purchase of a livestock animal for a developing country. Following this, the older children are then dismissed to Children’s church or to WTS (Worship Tween Style). Nursery care is provided, or you may choose to have your children remain with you during the worship service.

Do you recite the Lord’s Prayer?
At the conclusion of the pastor’s morning prayer, the congregation is invited to repeat the Lord’s Prayer in unison using “debts/debtors.”

Do you serve Holy Communion?
We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every Sunday. The elements (bread and juice) are distributed while persons are seated in the pews. You are invited to eat a piece of bread and drink from an individual cup as they are passed. We welcome all to the Lord’s Table as God has welcomed us.

What time does your worship service end?
Our worship service begins at 10:45 am and concludes by 11:45 am.

How would I become a member of Hillcrest Christian Church?
Persons wishing to join Hillcrest are invited to come forward at the end of the service during the invitation hymn. You may become a member through transfer from another congregation, or by making a confession of faith, stating your belief in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. There are no tests of membership—we have no creed by Christ.
