Small Groups
ADULT CHRISTIAN ENRICHMENT is all about our faith journey. We are all at a different place and, therefore, need different experiences and relationships to move forward. Disciples are all about sharing to discern God’s plan for us.
One of the ways to do this is through classes and small groups. Hillcrest offers the following classes on Sunday morning at the same time classes are available for our youth. Child care is also available for those not yet ready for a classroom experience. So there’s no excuse for you not to “test driving” to see which class (or group) might be best to join and journey with.

Sunday School |
|
All Sunday School classes meet on Sunday mornings at 11:00am unless otherwise stated.
| Adult Bible Study | The Adult Bible Study Class meets each Sunday morning after church in the middle classroom across from the sanctuary. This class goes through the entire Bible over a 6-year period. That means some fairly in-depth discussions for those seeking to understand the teachings found. The current focus is the covenant of God with the people of Israel through the monarchy, the exile, and the restoration of the people to Jerusalem. Lesson material will come from 1 & 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Daniel and Haggai. If you would like more information, contact Ron Maupin. |
| Living Issues | The Living Issues Class meets each Sunday morning at 8:30 in the Library (across from the Nursery). This class also goes through the Bible on a schedule similar to the Adult Bible Study Class. The discussions are stimulating as they attempt to understand the Bible more deeply. For more information, please contact Jim Angel. |
| Search of Scriptures (SOS) | Search of Scriptures (SOS) meets in the Library (across from the Nursery) each Sunday after church. They are currently studying the Book of John and discussions are usually quite active. Ray or Sydney Craft can provide more information. |
| Bible Explorers | Meeting in the first room (by the coffee) is the Bible Explorers Class. Consisting of mostly adults with school-age children, this group is currently studying The Book of Psalms. Their format is exploration through freeform discussion, with rotating facilitators. Jeff or Leslie Fuller can provide information. |

Sometimes our faith journey is taken with people who have similar interests. So the following are some additional ways to learn how to be more like Jesus, and have fun doing it.
| Keenagers |
KEENAGERS is for the retired folks. They meet on the first Thursday of each month around noon for food, fun and a program on a topic of interest to the group. Location varies so contact Margie Stoll or Gerry Linebarger for information. |
| Yoga Classes |
YOGA CLASSES take place every Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 6:30 at the church. It’s a great way to get or stay in shape and make new friends. |
| Family Life Team |
The FAMILY LIFE TEAM works together to provide fun and fellowship for the members of Hillcrest. They are working toward having some sort of event each month of the year – some for all ages, and some for specific age groups. Through working together they become each other’s support network. |
| Growth Group |
The GROWTH GROUP is a new group creating a process for assimilating visitors and new members into life at Hillcrest. If you have marketing skills or ideas about how new people should be treated and informed, you’ll want to talk with Kathy Elevier about becoming involved. |
| Choir and Bell Choir | If making music is what completes your worship journey, you will want to join either the CHOIR and/or the BELL CHOIR under the direction of Dr. Britney Rice. Practice is every Thursday except during summer …and it’s also a fun group! |
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work:
10 If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
