Music Ministries
Hillcrest's Director of Music is Dr. Britney Rice. She directs the Chancel Choir, Bell Choir, and leads music in the Sunday morning worship services.
Mrs. Rice is a native of Olathe where she received her bachelor's degree in vocal performance and pedagogy from MidAmerica Nazarene University.
She has performed with the Seagle Music Colony and Opera in the Ozarks in the operas Don Giovanni, I Pagliacci, and Cavalleria Rusticana. Dr. Rice has performed the role of Soeur Constance in Dialogues of the Carmelites, and Papagena in The Magic Flute with Opera in the Ozarks. Dr. Rice has also performed in many musical theatre productions and has appeared
in the role of Laurie in Oklahoma!, Hope in Anything Goes, Julie in Carousel, and various parts in a review of the works of Stephen Sondheim. Dr. Rice and her daughter were featured in the Kansas City Civic Opera's production of Wise Women playing the roles of Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus.
In addition to her position as music director at Hillcrest, Dr. Rice has taught private vocal lessons at Legacy School of the Arts in Olathe for six years. Dr. Rice also teaches courses in music and art history at MidAmerica Nazarene University.
Dr. Rice holds a doctoral degree in music arts for vocal performance from the Conservatory at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
